Rajasthan Boosts Tourism with Chetak Memorial and New Circuits for Maharana Pratap and Tribal Heritage
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has exciting plans to honor the state’s rich history and culture. He announced a stunning memorial for Maharana Pratap’s famous horse Chetak at Haldighati. This project will highlight Chetak’s incredible loyalty and bravery during battles.
Imagine stepping into history with modern twists! The Chetak memorial will feature 3D technology and thrilling light-and-sound shows that bring the legendary Battle of Haldighati back to life. Tourists will love these immersive experiences, making Rajasthan tourism even more appealing.
Sharma emphasized the state government’s dedication to preserving Rajasthan’s glorious past, ancient heritage, and vibrant tribal culture. "We’re building the Maharana Pratap Tourist Circuit to inspire the younger generation about this brave warrior’s life and share his story of courage with the world," he said.
This new tourist circuit will connect key historic sites linked to Maharana Pratap, including Chavand, Haldighati, Gogunda, Kumbhalgarh, Diver, and Udaipur. With a budget of Rs 100 crore, it promises to attract history buffs and adventure seekers alike.
In a similar move, the government plans a Tribal Tourist Circuit with another Rs 100 crore investment. This initiative aims to showcase and protect the traditions of Rajasthan’s tribal communities. Sites like Sitamata Sanctuary, Rishabhdev, Gautameshwar Temple, and Matri Kundia will get a facelift, along with Beneshwar Dham and Mangarh Dham.
Beneshwar Dham, famous for its massive annual tribal fair at the meeting point of the Som, Mahi, and Jakham rivers, will see special facilities to draw more visitors. Plus, memorials for tribal heroes will rise at Dungar Baranda in Dungarpur and Bansia Charpota in Banswara, fulfilling promises from the state budget.
Sharma also directed officials to develop the grand Samadhi Sthal at Chavand and build a Vijay Stambh (victory tower) at Diver to celebrate historic wins. Souvenir shops and more memorials will pop up at places tied to Pratap’s life, such as Diver, Gogunda, and Chittorgarh.
"These projects will skyrocket Rajasthan’s tourism sector and create plenty of jobs for locals," Sharma added during a review meeting at the Chief Minister’s Office on Tuesday. He praised the tribal communities’ huge contributions and assured ongoing efforts to celebrate their culture.
The meeting included Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumar, Rajasthan Heritage Authority Chairman Omkar Singh Lakhawat, and top officials from the Tourism, Art & Culture, and Finance departments. With these developments, Rajasthan is set to become a top destination for history, heritage, and cultural tourism.
