Bhopal, Nov 25 (LatestNewsX) – Chief Minister Mohan Yadav called an overnight session at the Police Headquarters in Bhopal on Tuesday to assess the state’s law‑and‑order situation, after citizens flooded into the streets in protest over the rape of a six‑year‑old girl in Sehore and a wave of violent incidents in the capital.
The gathering brought together Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, Director General of Police Kailash Makwana, Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra, and senior intelligence officers.
During the review, the chief minister made it clear that he was dissatisfied with Sehore police, who had failed to locate the accused in the rape case even though the child remains on life support at AIIMS Bhopal after four days of treatment. He ordered that Sehore Superintendent of Police Pankaj Pandey be transferred immediately to PHQ and instructed disciplinary action against other Bhopal police officers involved in recent disturbances, including vandalism at a restaurant last week.
“Upon reaching Police Headquarters, I held a meeting with officers. I have instructed the transfer of Sehore SP Pankaj Pandey to PHQ. I have also obtained information regarding criminal incidents in Bhopal and ordered necessary action against police personnel,” CM Yadav wrote on X.
The rape occurred on 21 November in Paanjara village, under Gauharganj police station jurisdiction in Sehore’s Mandeep industrial town, roughly 30 km from Bhopal. The 23‑year‑old perpetrator lured the child with sweets while she was playing nearby. Despite extensive searches by several police teams, the suspect remains at large.
The CM’s intervention comes amid rising criticism of the police response and heightened demands for accountability in how crimes against women and children are handled.
