New Delhi – In a shocking turn of events, 40‑year‑old Deepti Chaurasia, the wife of Harpreet Chaurasia and daughter‑in‑law of well‑known pan‑masala entrepreneur Kamal Kishore Chaurasia, was found dead in the family’s Vasant Vihar home, a posh South‑Delhi enclave. Authorities say the cause is unclear but suspect suicide.
The body was discovered in the afternoon on Tuesday. Police allege Deepti used a “dupatta (stole)” to hang herself. When her husband came upon the scene, he hurried her to Safdarjung Hospital; doctors pronounced her deceased on arrival. A post‑mortem will reveal the definitive cause of death.
A note left in Deepti’s room appears to absolve anyone of blame. The message, quoted by reporters, reads:
“If there is no love and trust in a relationship, what is the point of life?”
Investigators point to possible family tensions as a source of her distress, though the full inquiry is still ongoing. Deepti and Harpreet were wed in 2010 and are parents to a 14‑year‑old son.
The coroner’s office has taken the body for autopsy, with a team of physicians at Safdarjung scheduled to examine her remains. No official police statement has been released yet, and the family has also remained silent.
Kamal Kishore Chaurasia’s business footprint spans Kanpur, Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. He owns the popular brand Kamala Pasand, which began as a small stall in Kanpur’s Feelkhana area around 40‑45 years ago. Today, his enterprise turns billions of rupees each year.
