Jharkhand marks its 25 years
New Delhi, Nov 15 — Jharkhand celebrates the 25 th year since it was carved out of Bihar on 15 November 2000. The day is also a reminder of the birth anniversary of tribal hero Bir Munda, whose legacy inspires the state’s residents.
President Droupadi Murmu posted on X, wishing the people a joyous silver‑jubilee. She praised the state’s “talented and hardworking” citizens and highlighted Jharkhand’s rich natural resources that help India’s development. Murmu added that the tribal folk arts are famous both in India and around the world and hoped the state would keep moving forward for a brighter future for all its people.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also sent his congratulations to Jharkhand’s residents on the foundation day. His message celebrated the “glorious” state’s heritage of courage and self‑respect, rooted in the stories of Lord Bir Munda. He urged continued progress and prosperity for all in the state.
In the same week, Modi observed 150 years since Bir Munda’s birth on Tribal Pride Day, paying tribute to the leader who fought colonial rule in the late 19th century. Bir Munda, born in Ulihatu village (now part of Jharkhand), is remembered as “Dharti Aaba,” the Father of the Earth, for his commitment to indigenous rights and freedom.
Jharkhand’s Governor Santosh Gangwar also wished the people a happy 25‑year anniversary. He posted a short note on X, encouraging continued growth and prosperity for all.
This anniversary marks a milestone for Jharkhand, a state known for its resource wealth, vibrant culture, and the enduring spirit of its people—especially the legacy of Bir Munda, who continues to inspire generations.
