Bhubaneswar, Nov 27 – Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi declared that President Droupadi Murmu’s address to the state Assembly on Thursday will forever be remembered in the chronicles of Odisha’s democracy.
During the event, the CM said, “Today will be etched in golden letters in the democratic history of Odisha. For the first time in the 75‑year long history of the Odisha Assembly, the first citizen of our country, President Droupadi Murmu, will address this August House and guide all of us. On this historic occasion, on behalf of all the members of this August House, I extend a heartfelt welcome to the President.”
He added that many legislators take great pride in the fact that President Murmu began her political career within the Odisha Assembly. According to CM Majhi, her rise to the nation’s highest office is the result of hard work, sacrifice and unwavering commitment.
The Chief Minister praised President Murmu’s devotion to her native land, noting her significant contributions to Mayurbhanj. He highlighted that by visiting her earliest workplace today, she has sent a powerful message: no matter how far one climbs, one must never forget one’s roots, motherland, and the places that shaped you. He said this sentiment aligns perfectly with Odia traditions and the spirit of Jagannath culture.
Recalling the challenges President Murmu faced, the CM remarked that her achievements in public life and ascent to the presidency are no mere coincidence but the outcome of relentless dedication to service and divine blessings.
After becoming president, Murmu visited Odisha multiple times, initiating numerous development projects. The CM also recalled her achievements as an Odisha legislator and as Minister for Fisheries, Animal Resources, Commerce, and Transport, for which she was honored as the first woman “Best Legislator.”
He concluded that President Murmu’s address will not only reinforce the Assembly’s guiding principles but also inspire the 4.5‑crore residents of the state. With a vision of peace, harmony, equality, and goodwill, the CM expressed confidence that Odisha can be unitedly prosperous and that President Murmu’s words will help realize a thriving Odisha by 2036 and a developed India by 2047.
