Tragic Accident in Jaipur: Family of Seven, Including Kids, Dies After Car Plunges into Waterlogged Underpass
In a heartbreaking incident in Jaipur, Rajasthan, seven members of a family lost their lives when their car plunged into a flooded underpass on the Ring Road in the Chaksu area. The tragedy unfolded on Sunday, turning a routine return trip from Haridwar into a nightmare.
The family had just completed a sacred ritual in Haridwar, where they immersed the ashes of one of their loved ones—the father of a family member who passed away recently. As they drove back, heavy rains made the roads treacherous. Around 12:30 pm, a passerby noticed the car half-submerged in the waterlogged underpass near Prahladpuri and quickly alerted the police.
Jaipur South Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) shared details with reporters, saying the victims included three men, two women, and two young children. "They were all from the same family, heading home from Haridwar. Our initial probe points to the car losing control due to overspeeding on the slippery, water-filled road," the DCP explained.
Police teams rushed to the scene and used a crane to pull out the vehicle. Rescuers recovered the bodies and sent them to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital’s mortuary for postmortem. Three victims hailed from Jaipur’s Vatika area, while the other four were from Phuliyavas in Kekri district.
The deceased have been identified as Ramraj Vaishnav, his wife Madhu, and their sons Rudra and Rohit. Their relatives Kaluram, his wife Seema, and another family member Gajraj also perished in the accident. All were residents of Jaipur and Kekri, making this a devastating blow to the close-knit family.
Early investigations reveal that severe waterlogging in the underpass caused the car to overturn and get trapped. Rajasthan police are probing further to understand the exact sequence of events, especially amid ongoing concerns about monsoon-related road safety in Jaipur.
This Jaipur car accident highlights the dangers of driving in flooded areas during heavy rains. Authorities urge commuters to stay cautious and avoid low-lying roads in such conditions. The family’s loss has left the community in shock, with relatives now coping with unimaginable grief.
