Jaipur, Dec 4 (LatestNewsX) – Rajasthan’s Special Operations Group (SOG) has stepped up its fight against scammers who are tainting the state’s recruitment exams.
Additional Director General of Police (SOG) Vishal Bansal said that Ladu Ram Vishnoi, the main suspect in the 2016 “Gram Sevak Recruitment Exam” fake‑candidate plot, was finally taken into custody. Vishnoi, who had landed a government post through dishonest means and was offered a Rs 10 000 reward, did not sit the exam himself. Instead, he allegedly hired a stand‑in to write the test on his behalf.
The allegation emerged after the SOG received a complaint that Vishnoi never appeared for the 2016 exam. An initial probe substantiated the claim, prompting the group to file a case and launch a deeper inquiry. The probe uncovered that Vishnoi had approached Gopal Vishnoi—son of Jagdish Vishnoi from Barmer—to impersonate him during the test. In a twist, Gopal was already working as a second‑grade teacher in Jodhpur and had been arrested on Dec 19, 2024, for his role.
While the case was pending, Vishnoi went on the run, altering his location frequently to dodge capture. To lure him, the SOG offered a Rs 10 000 bounty for tips that would lead to his arrest. Leveraging technical reconnaissance, intelligence feeds, and continual tracking, the team finally caught him on Dec 1. He is a resident of Gadra Nedinadi in Barmer district.
Now the SOG is broadening the investigation to map the entire network behind the fraud. ADG Bansal highlighted the main priorities: finding everyone who facilitated the impersonation, checking if other candidates used similar tricks, and determining whether a coordinated gang was running the scheme. The group reaffirms its commitment to removing corruption from the state’s merit‑based selection process.
