In New Delhi on Nov. 24, the revered Tulsi Peethadheeshwar Jagadguru Rambhadracharya highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s anticipated attendance at the Ram Temple flag‑hoisting on Tuesday. He also weighed in on the latest political shifts in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
After the news of Dharmendra’s passing, the saint expressed his sorrow, noting how the legendary actor’s death was a profound loss for Indian cinema. Following that, he added, “May god give them peace,” offering a prayer for the departed soul.
When discussing the upcoming ceremony at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple where PM Modi will be present, Rambhadracharya commented on the absence of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. He remarked, “If they did not have obeisance then it is his misfortune, and if PM Modi did then it is his good fortune.”
Reflecting on the NDA’s recent electoral success in Bihar, the seer said the voters had moved beyond caste politics, stating, “The people of Bihar have risen above casteism; they know whom to vote for,” and added that the outcome showed political maturity.
Looking ahead to Uttar Pradesh, he was optimistic that the BJP would reclaim power in the 2027 Assembly elections, affirming, “BJP will win again in Uttar Pradesh in 2027 Assembly polls.”
When questioned about Rahul Gandhi’s frequent overseas trips, Rambhadracharya opted for neutrality: “I don’t want to comment on anyone’s personal affairs.”
However, he urged the repeal of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, arguing that ancient scriptures did not mention caste divisions. “The political leaders created this issue. According to me, there should be no reservations also on caste,” he added.
He praised PM Modi’s recent remark labeling the Congress as a “Maoist Muslim League party,” stating, “PM has said it right.”
On Sonia Gandhi’s award of the Indira Gandhi Peace Prize to former Chilean President Michelle Bachelet—who had spoken against the abrogation of Article 370—he said, “She (Sonia Gandhi) is not Indian. She is the wife of an Indian leader. I respect her but I cannot comment as she is not Indian.”
