In Delhi, Safdarjung Hospital kicked off a lively health camp on Tuesday as part of the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar campaign, focusing on boosting women’s health and family wellness across India. BJP MP PP Chaudhary dropped by to chat with the staff and patients, showing strong support for the effort.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this nationwide initiative on September 17 in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. It aims to empower women through better healthcare, marking the biggest outreach ever for women and children in the country.
At the Delhi camp, nurse Soniya shared exciting updates: “We’ve tested nearly 3,000 people so far, and we’re weaving in family planning too. Tied to PM Modi’s birthday celebrations, the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar drive pushes for top-notch care. We’re screening for diabetes, anemia, hypertension, obesity, and thyroid issues, plus offering tips on nutrition, exercise, and physiotherapy.”
Fellow nurse Jasmine added, “We’re seeing 800 to 900 patients each day—way above our goal of 800. Around 3,000 have gotten screened already. So many come because they’re from low-income families and need this help badly.”
Elsewhere in the capital, the Rural Health Training Centre in Najafgarh stepped up with its own camps under the campaign. They held a dementia screening for women at PHC Palam and a cataract check-up drive at PHC Ujwa to tackle eye health challenges in rural spots.
Led by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the Ministry of Women & Child Development, the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan plans over 1 million health camps from September 17 to October 2. These will run at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, community health centers, district hospitals, and other government spots nationwide.
The camps target women’s health head-on, with screenings and early detection for non-communicable diseases, anemia, tuberculosis, and sickle cell disease. They also promote maternal and child care through antenatal check-ups, vaccinations, nutrition advice, menstrual hygiene education, and mental health talks for adolescents. Communities get a nudge toward healthier lives, including obesity prevention, better eating habits, and voluntary blood donations—all to build stronger families in India.
