In New Delhi on November 22, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta took part in a “Unity March” that commemorated the 150th anniversary of India’s “Iron Man of India,” Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
During her address she explained that the march embodied the incredible spirit which, under Patel’s visionary leadership, pulled together the diverse parts of India into one cohesive nation.
“This legacy will continue to inspire generations,” she added.
The day began with an oath‑taking ceremony, where the CM and the assembled citizens pledged two key commitments: the “Pledge for Swadeshi,” encouraging the promotion of Indian‑made goods, and a collective vow for a “Drug‑Free India,” aimed at fostering a healthier, stronger country.
She paid tribute to Patel’s foresight in building the nation and noted that, under her guidance, the participants reaffirmed these two vital pledges, according to an official statement.
The Chief Minister urged everyone to resolve—following Patel’s example—to elevate India to new heights with unity, integrity, and harmony.
She stressed that the spirit of national unity must stay at the core of each citizen’s heart.
According to her, patriotism is shown not only through sacrifice but through daily service to the nation, and she called on youth and the broader public to play an active role in nation‑building.
The event’s centerpiece was the “March for Unity,” where hundreds of people, led by the CM, marched from the Pitampura Sports Complex. The march vividly reflected Patel’s vision of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.”
The grand march wrapped up amid palpable enthusiasm and patriotic fervor at the sports complex.
Several dignitaries, including MP Praveen Khandelwal and MLA Tilak Ram Gupta, joined in paying respects to Patel and reaffirming their commitment to his ideals.
Young performers presented captivating music and dance pieces that celebrated themes of patriotism and national unity.
