New Delhi – India’s armed forces are staging a major joint drill along the western border with Pakistan. The tri‑service exercise, called Exercise Trishul, will run from November 3 to November 13, following last month’s Operation Sindoor that targeted terror camps deep inside Pakistan.
The Indian Navy will lead the drill together with the Army and Air Force. Headquarters of the Western Naval Command will coordinate the effort, a spokesperson said. “We will run large‑scale operations over the creek and desert areas of Rajasthan and Gujarat,” the official added. “Maritime operations will also feature amphibious landings in the North Arabian Sea.”
Key units taking part include the Army Southern Command, the Western Naval Command, and the South‑Western Air Command. The Indian Coast Guard, Border Security Force and other national agencies will also be present, boosting joint readiness across branches.
Exercise Trishul aims to test and improve how the three services work together in a multi‑domain environment. The focus is on:
- Interoperability – Linking ships, aircraft and ground forces so they can operate smoothly.
- Integrated networks – Strengthening cyber, electronic warfare and communications links.
- Joint operations – Using warships, fighter jets and amphibious units like the Landing Platform Dock INS Jalashwa and LCU vessels.
The drill will also try out joint intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance plans, electronic and cyber warfare tactics, and ship‑based carrier operations in partnership with the Air Force.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh warned last month that any “misadventure” in the Sir Creek area would trigger a “resounding response.” With Exercise Trishul, India is sharpening its readiness along the western front and demonstrating its capability to coordinate large‑scale, multi‑service operations.
