Israeli forces struck hard on Saturday, taking out a top Hamas terrorist linked to a deadly clash during a hostage rescue in Gaza. Muhammad Ahmed Yousef al-Jamal, who served as a guard for kidnapped Israelis, died in the airstrike. Back on June 8, 2024, al-Jamal killed Israeli police special forces officer Arnon Zmora during the daring raid that freed four hostages from Hamas captivity in the Nusseirat refugee camp.
The operation, carried out by Israel’s Shin Bet intelligence agency and the IDF military, also eliminated Sari Idris Muhammad al-Aqrab. This Hamas operative joined the brutal October 7 attack on Israel and had close ties to al-Jamal.
The rescued hostages—Noa Argamani, Almog Meir Jan, Andrei Kozlov, and Shlomi Ziv—had been held prisoner by Hamas in Gaza for months. This latest strike highlights Israel’s ongoing efforts to target those behind the October 7 assault and the hostage crisis.
