On November 7, 18‑year‑old Florida cheerleader Anna Kepner was found dead in a cabin on a cruise ship she had been sharing with her stepbrother. A relative told investigators that “fought for her life,” and on Friday demanded that the boy face charges.
Anna’s aunt, Krystal Wright, spoke to FOX 35 Orlando, saying that her niece “was fighting for her life” and that the family was at a loss as to why no arrest had been made yet. She added, “We’re just sitting here waiting.”
Authorities have ruled the death a homicide caused by “mechanical asphyxiation.” Police say Anna’s body was discovered beneath her cabin bed, wrapped in a blanket that had been covered by life vests. Her father, Christopher Kepner, has requested that the stepson be charged if he is responsible. The investigation has yet to name a suspect or a person of interest.
