Anna’s aunt, Krystal Wright, spoke to FOX 35 Orlando, saying that her niece “was fighting for her life” and that the family was at a loss as to why no arrest had been made yet. She added, “We’re just sitting here waiting.”

Authorities have ruled the death a homicide caused by “mechanical asphyxiation.” Police say Anna’s body was discovered beneath her cabin bed, wrapped in a blanket that had been covered by life vests. Her father, Christopher Kepner, has requested that the stepson be charged if he is responsible. The investigation has yet to name a suspect or a person of interest.
