The LAPD has officially refuted several sensational rumors about the tragic death of 14‑year‑old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
After her missing‑person announcement on April 5, 2024, Celeste’s body was uncovered in a Tesla that had been seized in the Hollywood Hills on September 8, just a day before she would have turned 15. According to the police, the remains were neither frozen nor decapitated, contrary to the circulating claims that suggested a “partially frozen” body had been found.
LAPD Captain Scot Williams, who heads the Robbery‑Homicide Division, stated, “Celeste’s body was not frozen. She was not decapitated. The whole frozen thing doesn’t even make sense. Her body was in the car for weeks.” He added that if the body had truly been frozen, it would be impossible for it to survive an extended stay in a summer‑heated trunk without any evidence of freezing.
Celeste’s disappearance first drew attention in Lake Elsinore, California, where she was reported missing on April 5. The case entered a new phase last week when singer D4vd (real name David Anthony Burke), who was on tour at the time, was named as a suspect in her death. The investigation continues to examine the circumstances surrounding her remains and the Tesla.
