Washington, D.C. – October 7 /
US President Donald Trump said on Monday that America needs more independent production of critical minerals. He explained that the new deal with China on TikTok is a sign that even former rivals can work together.
Trump told reporters that the U.S. used to buy minerals and technology from anywhere. “If a country turns hostile, we can still get what we need because we’re not tied to one place,” he said. “That’s why it’s smart to grow our own mineral supply.”
The President praised the approval of the Ambler Road Project in Alaska, a $1 billion plan that will open up mining opportunities. Trump said the 200‑mile road will unlock “billions of dollars of wealth” for the country. “We can do it because we have the right to build and the power to move forward,” he added.
Trump also highlighted America’s leadership in artificial intelligence. “We’re number one in AI,” he said. “Our energy policy has made this possible.” He explained that the President has allowed AI companies to build their own power plants to meet their huge electricity needs, turning them into tiny utilities that can feed excess power back into the grid.
The former president stressed that AI is shaping the future. He mentioned the potential for AI to cut medication costs and improve medical care. “Imagine a plant the size of Manhattan,” he said, describing a massive AI facility that could innovate faster than any other country’s.
Overall, Trump framed the country’s new mining, TikTok, and AI initiatives as steps toward a stronger, more self‑sufficient America. He emphasized the importance of building domestic manufacturing and advanced technology infrastructure to keep U.S. global leadership.
