Erika Kirk celebrated this Thanksgiving—her first one without her husband—by sharing a deeply personal post that touched on loss, thankfulness, and faith.
In the ceremony, she reminded everyone that Charlie Kirk, the 31‑year‑old founder of TPUSA, had always said, “always loved Thanksgiving because it drew us back to the simple, but holy practice of gratitude.” She added, “And even now, well, especially now, in the depths of the ache, I’m reminded of that gratitude.” The message continues, “God blessed me with being married to the love of my life, with our beautiful babies, with our family and friends, and with people from all over the world who have sent us letters, toys, artwork, and Bibles.”
Erika, now the CEO of Turning Point USA, went on to say, “It’s easy to fixate on what’s been taken, at what’s missing. But my goodness does the Lord meet me in my weakness, and His strength gently shifts my eyes to what I still have on this side of heaven.” She finished the reflection with a simple truth: “What remains is sacred.”
After Charlie’s unexpected death in September, Erika and their two children—a daughter born in 2022 and a son born in 2024—have felt an overwhelming wave of support. She expressed her gratitude for the flood of letters, cards, and gifts, saying she is reading every one, keeping each as a memory for the kids when they grow older.
In a video she posted, Erika shared a pile of thoughtful presents and explained how she tells her children about Heaven, saying, “Heaven’s our home,” and then added, “I just want her to know that daddy is having so much fun and building a place for her and our family.”
As she wound down her post, she echoed a heartfelt thought to her late husband: “We’ll save a plate for you babe,” wishing a happy Thanksgiving from afar.
