The FBI and the Justice Department have approached several veteran Democratic lawmakers who, last week in a now‑viral video, urged active‑duty personnel to “refuse illegal orders.” In a joint statement, Reps. Chris Deluzio (D‑PA), Maggie Goodlander (D‑NH), Chrissy Houlahan (D‑PA) and Jason Crow (D‑CO) said:
“President Trump is using the FBI as a tool to intimidate and harass Members of Congress.”
They added:
“No amount of intimidation or harassment will ever stop us from doing our jobs and honoring our Constitution.”
Later in the clip, Senators Elissa Slotkin (D‑MI) and Mark Kelly (D‑AZ) appeared, with Ms. Kelly confirming that the FBI had also requested an interview with him.
On Monday, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced that the Pentagon is reviewing Kelly’s involvement and hinted that the inquiry is linked to his role in the encouraging message. Hegseth clarified that the other five veteran Democrats were not subject to the Department of Defense’s jurisdiction.
When the Post reached out for comment, the FBI declined to respond.
