A heated argument over a bathroom at a new Texas Bass Pro Shop turned into a full‑blown brawl during the store’s grand opening in Odessa, Saturday afternoon.
Video that went viral shows two men in line for the restroom arguing, then getting into a physical fight before other customers joined in. The chaos grew as a third man in a Texas Longhorn jersey stepped in, swinging a punch and pushing one of the fighters to the ground.
Police arrived quickly and helped separate the men, but the scuffle didn’t stop there. Bystanders shouted, with one woman telling the men to “stop acting like idiots.” The incident spread to other shoppers, who were frightened as fists flew and people grappled on the floor.
Investigators say the initial trigger was that a customer with a wife and child was stuck in a long bathroom line. The frustrated man left the restroom, confronted the one who was taking time, and the two argued outside before bringing the argument back inside the store.
The Odessa Police Department said none of the men will face criminal charges. Those who started the melee received trespass warnings and were banned from the store. They suffered minor injuries and did not need hospital care.
Bass Pro Shop, founded in 1972 by Johnny Morris, has grown from a small fishing‑gear stand to more than 200 stores across North America, with 18 in Texas. The Odessa location, like others, offers a wide range of outdoor gear and has an aquarium and wildlife displays to attract shoppers.
