Patna, Oct 13 – In a candid interview, Pawan K. Varma, spokesperson for the Jan Suraaj Party, slammed the Congress after a series of losses in Bihar.
Varma said the party’s once‑broad base is now almost gone, especially under Rahul Gandhi. “We used to see Congress as a powerful force. Today the party is shrinking, and that worries us,” he told . “It still has ideas, but Rahul’s leadership has weakened our organization in Bihar.”
The Jan Suraaj leader criticized Gandhi’s politics, calling him a “seasonal bird” whose ambitions outpace the party’s reality. He warned that this gap could hurt the Mahagathbandhan alliance in the upcoming Bihar polls.
Varma also took aim at the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). “The RJD is family‑run,” he said. “The talk of ‘Muslim‑Yadav unity’ is a front. Tejashwi Yadav is only a chief‑minister candidate because he is Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son. He doesn’t genuinely represent either group. Even his brother, Tej Pratap Yadav, who has mental health concerns, holds a ministerial post simply because he is Lalu’s son.”
Looking ahead to the 2024 Bihar elections, Jan Suraaj has vowed to contest all 243 seats on its own. “We won’t ally with any party, before or after the elections,” Varma confirmed. The party criticised the newly announced National Democratic Alliance (NDA) seat‑sharing plan, describing it as driven by power hunger. “The people of Bihar can see that these coalitions are about power, not public service,” he added.
