India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and chose to bat first against Oman in their final group stage match of the Asia Cup at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Friday. What’s funny? Both captains blanked on the changes they made to their playing XI!

India has dominated Group A so far, easily beating UAE and rivals Pakistan to book their spot in the Super Four. This game doesn’t change much—India tops the group no matter what happens. Plus, it’s a historic first: India and Oman face off for the very first time in T20Is.

Kuldeep Yadav has been a star, earning Player of the Match in both previous games with his unbeatable spin. Varun Chakravarthy has baffled batters too, keeping things mysterious. Oman got hammered by Pakistan but showed grit against UAE. Now, they’re dreaming of a big upset to end their campaign on a high.

India brought in Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana, swapping out Varun Chakravarthy and Jasprit Bumrah. Suryakumar nailed Harshit’s return but fumbled on Arshdeep’s name during the toss chat—leading to a light-hearted joke about turning into ex-captain Rohit Sharma!

“We’re batting first today—we haven’t done that in this Asia Cup yet, and it’s a chance to test our batting depth,” Suryakumar said with a laugh. “Game time matters before Super Four. Let’s keep up the good vibes from our first two wins. Pitch looks solid; our openers will check it out. Two changes: Harshit’s back, and one more guy… I’ve gone full Rohit mode!”

Oman skipper Jatinder Singh would’ve bowled first but took it in stride. “Great experience for us,” he said. “Our team’s young and short on exposure, but playing India lets them test themselves against the best. Two changes for us too.”

India’s Playing XI: Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson (wk), Suryakumar Yadav (c), Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav.

Oman’s Playing XI: Aamir Kaleem, Jatinder Singh (c), Hammad Mirza, Vinayak Shukla (wk), Shah Faisal, Zikria Islam, Aryan Bisht, Mohammad Nadeem, Shakeel Ahmed, Samay Shrivastava, Jiten Ramanandi.
