The vessel is an amphibious assault ship that can be transformed into a landing helicopter dock (LHD) and a drone carrier, making it the world’s first Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) carrier in its field. Key Features of TCG Anadolu

The TCG Anadolu is 231 meters long and 32 meters wide, making it the largest vessel in the Turkish Navy. The ship has a maximum displacement of 27,436 tons and a top speed of 20.5 knots, allowing it to travel up to 9,000 nautical miles. Its deck can hold up to 11 unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) or 10 helicopters, while its hangar can accommodate 30 UCAVs or 19 helicopters.

With its capabilities, TCG Anadolu has become a game-changer in the defence industry. It can serve various purposes, including humanitarian missions and combat operations. The vessel is also designed to carry tanks and armoured amphibious assault vehicles, enhancing its military capabilities.

The Making of TCG Anadolu

Turkey began its amphibious assault ship project in 2015, with Sedef Shipbuilding Inc. being contracted to build the TCG Anadolu. The building process involved 131 subcontractor companies, with 70% of the vessel’s components being made in Turkey.
